Write the fall height before you write the clamp
A glass balustrade is a barrier. Housing Provisions 11.3.3 and 11.3.4 decide when and how. AS 1288 and AS/NZS 1170.1 sit under the glass.

11.3.3 — when
A continuous barrier along stairs, ramps, floors, balconies, decks, verandahs, mezzanines, roof tops with general access, and delineated paths, where a fall of 1 m or more is possible. Exceptions are listed (some retaining walls, window barriers under 11.3.7/11.3.8, some AS 1657 access). Pool barriers are H7D2, not this page.
11.3.4 — how
Height, sphere, 40 mm face gap, climbability above a 4 m fall, H1D8 for glass, AS/NZS 1170.1 loads except for a window serving as a barrier. The public page is the source. We are not decorating it.
AS 1288 and 1170
Standards Australia names barriers as a special application of AS 1288. B1D4 lists balustrade glazing under AS 1288. Ask the designer for structural versus infill, handrail type, and the actions. We will not recite paywalled clause numbers.
Windows as barriers
A window that is the barrier follows Section 8 for the assembly and still follows 11.3 for height, openings and climbability. Sills in the 150–760 mm band can be climbable on a high fall.
Write fall height, barrier height, sphere check, face gap, actions, and glass type on the drawing. Then pick a clamp.
Common mix-ups on glass balustrade barriers

When is a glass balustrade required on a house?
When 11.3.3 requires a continuous barrier — listed trafficable surfaces with a possible fall of 1 m or more. The glass is how you build that barrier, not why the barrier exists.
Do glass barriers need AS 1288?
11.3.4 requires glass barriers and windows serving as barriers to comply with H1D8 and Part 11.3. 8.3.1 requires barrier glass, except a window serving as a barrier, to take AS 1170.1 loads and to be a type within the scope of AS 1288.
